Artistic Vision in Context - Essay
Week 1 - Choosing a theme
In Sarahs class on Thursday even though we had chosen a theme for our installation we had to make mind maps of said theme alongside others as well as analysing the image through a mind map.
Later in our groups we compared mind maps to find common themes between us both to help us decide on a theme for our project and essay.

Week 2 - Research
Sarah tasked us with finding articles and essays relating to our main theme we chose which was ignorance. On the right were some essays and articles I found as examples.
This task helped us understand our main theme as a topic when it is not relating to a specific medium. Simultaneously it helped clarify questions around our topic and inform us as to what it says and means.
Additionally we had to take quotes from said essays if we deemed them to be useful or just interesting. Then we needed to ask any questions these essays gave us about the theme. You can see what I wrote below.

Week 3 - Mini Essay
We wrote our first version of the essay this week. This was to be a much smaller and condensed version and the aim here was to outline our main question and any sub questions we had. We additionally had to outline why we chose our theme. After submission we paired off in twos and each provided feedback to one another. Friso said mine had a nice built up structure and was well thought out. He did point out that I had no idea written for incorporating this theme into an installation which was more so due to my own confusion at the time on how to do so.
My main question I decided upon was this: “Why can these elitist and corporations turn a blind eye to an ongoing and prevalent issue and why do we, the public allow such behaviour to occur?”.

Week 4 - First Draft
We had to write our first full essay this week with proper formatting and referencing. This would be the 2nd last time we write the essay before the final submission. Any feedback we received from our peers or Sarah was to be considered post writing this essay.
Sarah had said to me that my essay had a lot of questions in it, whether they be rhetorical or not. She said I should cut back on this. She liked my format for the essay and complimented my structure which was great. My references were well done. One other piece of feedback I got was that my main question was answered well but needed more elaboration due to it being a 'why' question.
